Map Store Hours
Map Room hours for review or over-the-counter sales are Monday - Friday, (excluding State Holidays) 8:30 a.m. to noon. We close for one hour beginning at noon. We reopen at 1:00 p.m. and close at 3:30 p.m.
Georgia Mineral Newsletter
The Regulatory Support Program maintains copies (for reproduction only) of the Georgia Mineral Newsletter, vol. I, January, 1948 to vol. XVII, November, 1964-1965. No Newsletters have been published since 1965. Customers may request duplicate copies for a fee of $0.25 per page. A reproducible list of topics and an index to all newsletters is also available.
Wildlife Management Areas
The Regulatory Support Program maintains a listing of Wildlife Management Areas in the State of Georgia with a list of topographic maps that cover each Management Area. Contact the Regulatory Support Program for more information. Customers can also request a copy of the 8.5 x 11 Wildlife Management Area Boundary Map at no cost (shipping applies). Soil Surveys
U.S. Department of Agriculture, Natural Resource Conservation Services Soil Surveys, with coverage in Georgia, are kept at the Regulatory Support Program for every county that has a completed survey. These books are not for sale but can be reviewed and copied for $0.25 per page. The surveys that are still in print can be requested from the USDA/NRCS office in Athens, Georgia by calling 706-546-2278. Historical Maps
Historical maps are available at the Regulatory Support Program for selected areas of Georgia. Each map is available as a blackline copy for $3.50 each. Please call 404-656-3214 for additional information.
GIS Databases
GIS databases are available. Each GIS database is available for $15.00 and includes a copy of the metadata with a diskette containing the GIS information. Please contact our Information Geologist, at 404-656-3214 for additional information.
Well Cuttings and Cores
The Regulatory Support Program maintains a library of over 3000 sets of well cuttings and cores collected from Georgia wells (mostly in the Coastal Plain Province). Cuttings are collected from oil test wells, and voluntarily submitted by water well by drillers. Cores are obtained from industrial exploration companies, utility companies, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Geological Survey, and the Regulatory Support Program's drilling crew. Persons interested in examining well cuttings and cores should contact our Information Geologist, at 404-656-3214 for additional information.
Geophysical Logs
Open file geophysical logs furnish additional data on many wells in the state. Electric, gamma ray, caliper, and other logs are available for review in Atlanta no less than six months after an oil test is completed. These logs may not be removed from the premises; however, you can duplicate them at our offices for a nominal fee or request that we obtain outside duplication of the logs at your expense. Contact our Information Geologist, at 404-656-3214 on the availability of logs for a specific well before visiting us.
Library and File Facilities
We maintain some library and file facilities. Many unpublished works, such as theses, dissertations, etc., are available for inspection. Please contact our Information Geologist, at 404-656-3214 for additional information.
